Alexander (Sander) Sudrzynski

Patent Attorney - Associate

Sander’s practice of intellectual property law focuses primarily on patent prosecution. With an interdisciplinary background in both biomedical and electrical engineering, Sander brings a broad technical perspective to his work. Specifically, Sander specializes in prosecuting patent applications in the following technology spaces: financial technology; machine learning and artificial intelligence; medical imaging; medical devices; network and internet communications; automotive; electric vehicles; navigation; mechanical systems and products; and renewable energy.

Prior to joining Lempia Summerfield Katz, Sander interned at the Innovations and New Ventures Office at Northwestern University, assessing university technology for patentability, marketability, and commercial viability. Sander also volunteered at the Chicago-Kent Patent Hub, conducting pro-bono prior art searches for low-income inventors. These experiences helped Sander develop practical skills in patent prosecution, client counseling, and technology licensing.

Non-Legal Experience

Prior to law school, Sander received a bachelor’s degree in bioengineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with a focus in imaging and sensing, and a minor in electrical engineering. At UIUC, Sander contributed to the development of an ultrasonic visual aid device sponsored by the Carle Illinois College of Medicine’s Health Maker Lab.

Sander then received a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University, concentrating on mechanical design, biomaterials, and robotics. Sander also has hands-on experience working with industrial printing and binding equipment.
