Daniel Broaddus approaches his practice from the standpoint of a scientist and engineer. Although he has over a decade of experience as a patent prosecutor, Daniel still thinks of himself first and foremost as a “tech geek” and enjoys bringing lots of value to patent applications that might leave others scratching their heads. Inventors appreciate his ability to approach their innovations as both a technical colleague and as their attorney.

Daniel has extensive experience with technologies in the electrical and computer arts, optics, material science, and mechanics, including specialized experience with complex innovations in financial technologies, blockchain, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and wireless communication. He has advised clients in all areas of patent law. Daniel has prepared and prosecuted countless applications and rendered freedom-to-operate and patentability opinions. He has extensive experience working with both US and international industrial, academic, and quasi-governmental clients.

Prior to joining LSK, Daniel worked as an associate and patent agent at Brinks Gilson & Lione. Before that, Daniel was a patent agent at a small intellectual property boutique in San Diego.

Non-Legal Experience

Daniel began his career as a researcher at the Center for Nanoscale Systems and a member of the Quantum and Non-Linear Optics Group at Cornell University, where he received both his MA and PhD in Applied and Engineering Physics with a concentration in Electrical Engineering. While at Cornell, Daniel worked extensively with electrical, computer, and optical systems.
