Greg helps clients protect their research and development both domestically and abroad. He builds and manages international patent portfolios and drafts patent applications that provide a solid basis for obtaining patent protection in multiple jurisdictions with differing patent rules and laws. He also analyzes patents in several contexts including infringement and validity opinions, post-grant proceedings, litigation, design around efforts, licensing negotiations, venture capital investments, and corporate acquisitions. Additionally, Greg has extensive experience analyzing patents and drafting patent applications in view of industry technical standards.
Greg works with a variety of technologies including electronics, software, and mechanical innovations. He has extensive experience with communications, networking, industrial automation, natural language processing, cloud computing, and machine learning.
Prior to joining Lempia Summerfield Katz, Greg was a partner with an Am Law 100 general practice firm in Chicago, a partner with an IP boutique in Chicago, and an associate with an IP boutique in Silicon Valley.
Non-Legal Experience
Before starting his legal career, Greg worked as an engineer designing hardware and software for communication products and televisions. For his graduate studies, he focused on signal and image processing, and communication technologies.
