For over a decade, Hanqin has assisted clients, ranging from start-up to Fortune 500, in procuring intellectual property assets within the United States and China.
With a background in electrical engineering, Hanqin specializes in filing and prosecuting patent applications in extensive technical fields, e.g., bathroom products, electric and hybrid vehicles, navigation and routing technologies, medical imaging technologies, and mechanical devices. She has also prosecuted international patent applications in the major countries over the world.
In addition, Hanqin has helped her client to prepare non-infringement opinions and draft IP licensing agreements.
Hanqin started her career as a patent attorney in China. She is qualified as a Chinese patent agent and Chinese attorney at law. When she practiced in China, Hanqin is experienced in all aspects of intellectual property, e.g., patent prosecution and invalidation, patent portfolio management, FTO analysis, trademark prosecution and opposition, IP enforcement and litigation, and IP due diligence investigation.
Hanqin has received recognition from Illinois Super Lawyers as a Rising Star for 4 consecutive years. She is also fluent in Mandarin and Shanghainese.
Prior to joining Lempia Summerfield Katz, Hanqin had worked as an IP counsel with Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone PLC, Pinsent Masons LLP, and a local IP law firm in Shanghai for 8 years.
During her study in the law school, Hanqin interned at the Chicago office of Perkins Coie LLP, assisting the partners in marketing the firm’s ITC practice in China.
Hanqin is fluent in Mandarin and Shanghainese.
