Hyojeong’s practice spans all areas of intellectual property law, with a particular focus on U.S. and foreign patent preparation and prosecution. She has experience working with a wide range of technologies, including materials science, mechanical systems, and electronics. Her work includes drafting patent applications, responding to office actions and providing legal opinions in technical fields such as vehicles, batteries, robotics, medical devices, machine learning, and computer software.
In addition to patent prosecution, Hyojeong conducts non-infringement analyses, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, patentability assessments, and competitor portfolio reviews. She also has experience in domestic trademark prosecution.
Prior to joining Lempia Summerfield Katz, Hyojeong practiced as a Korean Patent Attorney in Seoul, Korea, and later served as an associate at Fitch, Even, Tabin & Flannery LLP in Chicago. Her combined experience in Korea and the United States has provided her with a strong foundation in client counseling and patent prosecution across multiple jurisdictions.
